Who they were
Juana Fernández Solar, 'Juanita', was born in Santiago de Chile on 13 July 1900.
As a Discalced Carmelite novice, Sister Teresa of Jesus, she consecrated her life, as she said, to God for the sinful world. She had long known she would die young, and died of typhus as a novice at twenty.
