Teresa Prats Martí
Dominican sister of the Annunciation, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Teresa Prats Martí was born at Ciutadilla in the archdiocese of Tarragona on 8 January 1895 and from her youth gave herself to teaching the catechism and nursing the sick; in 1920 she was admitted among the Sisters of Saint Dominic of the Annunciation, and in 1933 moved to the Barcelona college of Saint Catherine, where she worked simply and humbly as cook and seamstress.
When the persecution broke out she was killed by the militia on 27 July 1936. She was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI, among Antero Mateo García and his eleven companions of the Second and Third Orders of Saint Dominic.
