Who they were
At Parium on the Hellespont, in present-day Turkey, Saint Theogenes, martyr: under the emperor Licinius, enrolled among the recruits, he refused to perform military service because of his Christian faith, and was imprisoned, tortured and finally drowned in the sea.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
