Thomas of Cori

Who they were
Francesco Antonio Placidi was born at Cori on 4 June 1655. He lost his mother and then his father, and at fourteen was left alone to care for his younger sister, working as a shepherd. When his sisters married, he was free to follow the call he had long kept in silence: to belong wholly to God in the Franciscan life.
As Father Thomas of Cori, a Friar Minor, he was outstanding for austerity and preaching and founded several hermitages. Ready for any need, however humble, he lived the kingship of love and service after the mind of Christ.
