Thomas Sprott

Who they were

Thomas Sprott, of Skelsmergh near Kendal, was ordained at Douai in 1596 and sent on the mission. He was arrested at the Saracen's Head in Lincoln with the priest Thomas Hunt after holy oils and breviaries were found in their bags.

Though there was no evidence that they were priests, the judge directed the jury to find them guilty. They were executed at Lincoln on 11 July 1600.
