Thomas Thwing

Who they were

Thomas Thwing of Heworth, near York, was educated at Douai and sent on the mission in 1664. He was a chaplain, opened a school, and became chaplain to the Institute of Mary at Dolebank, where three of his sisters were nuns.

Arrested in 1679 on a false charge of plotting to kill the king, he was convicted on the same evidence on which his relatives were acquitted, and executed at York on 23 October 1680.
