Who they were
Thurcytel, a cleric of royal descent, left the world in 946 to become a monk of the ruined abbey of Crowland, which he endowed with six of his manors.
Elected abbot, he restored it to prosperity. A friend of St Dunstan and St Ethelwold, he was a reformer like them. He died in July 975.

The Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe how he came to be honoured as a saint.
