Trudpert
German saint

Who they were
Trudpert, a seventh-century missionary, probably a Celtic monk from Ireland, came to the Breisgau, where a nobleman gave him land south of Freiburg. He built a cell and a small church and led an ascetic and laborious life.
One day, while he slept, he was murdered by one of the serfs given to him. The Benedictine Abbey of St Trudpert later rose over his grave. His life is so full of legend that little is certain.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
