Tryphon, Respicius, and Nympha

Who they were

Tryphon is said to have been born in Phrygia and to have looked after geese as a boy; in the Decian persecution around 250 he was taken to Nicaea and put to death after converting the pagan prefect. He is greatly venerated in the East. A later account makes Respicius his companion. Their relics were kept at Rome with those of Nympha, a virgin of Palermo martyred at the start of the fourth century.

There was never a formal cause: they have been honoured as martyrs since early times. Their stories include legendary elements.

Why that counted as sanctity

Tryphon, Respicius and Nympha are honoured together as witnesses to Christ in the early persecutions.
