Who they were
Valentín María Jaunzarás Gómez was a priest of the Third Order Capuchin of the Sorrowful Virgin, born in the town of Torrente in 1896; the decree on martyrdom says he was wholly shaped to the merciful mind of Christ the Good Shepherd, and he was killed at Monserrat on 18 September 1936.
He was beatified on 11 March 2001 by John Paul II, among Vicente Cabanes Badenas and his eighteen companions of the Third Order Capuchin of the Sorrowful Virgin and the laywoman María del Carmen García Moyon.
