Valérie Ama and her husband Louis Wandete were lay Catholics of Korhogo; the archdiocese promotes theirs as the first beatification cause of an African married couple. The bishop of Korhogo asked the Congregation for the Causes of Saints for the nihil obstat on 8 November 1994 and it was granted on 16 December 1994.
