Venantius of Tours

Who they were

At Tours in Lugdunensian Gaul, now in France, Saint Venantius, abbot, who, having married at a young age, went to the basilica of Saint Martin and, struck by the life of the monks, with his wife's consent chose to live among them in Christ.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 13 October as the abbot at Tours who, with his wife's consent, left married life to live among the monks of Saint Martin's.
