Victoire Gusteau

Who they were

Victoire Gusteau was shot at Avrillé, near Angers, in hatred of the Christian faith while the French Revolution raged, with Félicité Pricet, Monique Pichery and Charlotte Lucas. She was beatified on 19 February 1984 by Pope John Paul II, with Guillaume Repin and the ninety-eight other martyrs of Angers.

Why that counted as sanctity

She was one of the ninety-nine put to death at Angers and Avrillé in 1793 and 1794 for holding to the Catholic faith.
