Who they were

A Brother of the Institute of the Marist Brothers of the Schools, in the world Iosephus Blanch Roca, who was twenty-eight years old when he died in the persecution in Spain in 1936.

He was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI, among the forty-four companions of Laurentinus and Vergilius of the Institute of the Marist Brothers of the Schools whose martyrdom the decree records.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The decree on martyrdom found that he and his companions were killed for their own faithfulness to Christ.
