Bishop of Telšiai, shot by the Soviets after protesting against persecution
Who they were
Rector of the Telšiai seminary from 1927, he was made auxiliary bishop in 1940 and bishop of Telšiai in 1944; he signed the Lithuanian bishops' protest to the German authorities against the killing of Jews, helped people in the Telšiai ghetto and prisoners of war, and after the Soviet occupation spoke against the persecution of the Church and was executed in Vilnius in 1946.

Why that counted as sanctity
The diocese of Telšiai calls him a Servant of God: his beatification cause began in 1991, his remains were found and reburied in the cathedral crypt in 1999, and the diocesan stage closed in 2018 with the material sent to Rome.
