Italian-born Servite friar in Santa Catarina, patron of Brazilian family farmers
Who they were
Born at Valentano (Viterbo), he joined the Servites at 21, went to Brazil in 1921 and spent his last 24 years at the Turvo seminary among smallholder farmers; a 2023 Brazilian law declared him patron of family farmers.

Why that counted as sanctity
Bishop Jacinto Inácio Flach of Criciúma opened the beatification and canonisation process of Frei Egídio Maria Moscini on 7 July 2024 at Turvo, constituting the diocesan tribunal, with Fr Franco Maria Azzalli OSM as postulator; he is now Servo de Deus.
