Who they were
Frede refused to conform to National Socialism, kept up public Catholic witness and used his post as Dutch vice-consul to help Jews; he was deported to Sachsenhausen and died there in 1942.

Santi e Beati records that in 2017 the diocese of Münster opened his cause as a martyr, now before the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.
