Who they were
William Davies, of North Wales, was ordained at Reims in 1585 and worked with wonderful zeal in Wales. Arrested at Holyhead in 1592 while sending four students to Valladolid, he frankly confessed that he was a priest.
His holiness and patience won him freedom to say Mass in Beaumaris Castle, and people came from all parts to consult him. Condemned, he intoned the Te Deum. He was executed at Beaumaris on 27 July 1593.
