Who they were
He was a 19th-century Maronite leader from Ehden, remembered for defending Christians in the 1860 conflict and for his personal piety and charity; he died in exile in Naples.

Why that counted as sanctity
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Béchara Boutros Raï issued a patriarchal decree appointing a commission of bishops and priests to prepare his cause, and the Maronite Synod of Bishops approved submitting the beatification case to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, which issued the nihil obstat in November 2025.
