At Caesarea in Palestine, Saints Alpheus and Zacchaeus, martyrs, who, in the first year of the persecution of the emperor Diocletian, for having firmly confessed the existence of one only God and the kingship of Christ Jesus, after many torments were condemned to death.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
