Who they were
Zachary, of a Greek family of Calabria, was unanimously elected pope in 741. His biographer calls him gentle, conciliatory and charitable to clergy and people.
By personal meetings he persuaded the Lombard king to spare Ravenna and restore territory. He died in March 752.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
