Zygmunt Gorazdowski
Polish saint from Lwow (1845–1920)

Who they were
Zygmunt Gorazdowski was born at Sanok, Poland, on 1 November 1845 into a devout Catholic family; gravely ill from childhood, he always wanted to help those who suffered. He studied law at Lviv, and when his health improved he was ordained in Lviv cathedral on 25 July 1871.
Outstanding for love of neighbour and a pioneer in the defence of life, he founded the Sisters of St Joseph and did everything for the poor and needy. He died in Lviv on 1 January 1920.
