Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński

Who they were
Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński was born on 1 November 1822 at Wojutyn, Volhynia, then Polish and now Ukrainian, seventh of eleven children of a noble, religious family, and was ordained on 8 September 1855.
As Archbishop of Warsaw he worked amid great difficulties for the freedom and renewal of the Church, and founded the Franciscan Sisters of the Family of Mary. After the failed rising of January 1863, for his fidelity to Rome and his direct contact with the Holy See, he was deported on 14 June 1863 and exiled at Yaroslavl on the Volga. He died in Kraków on 17 September 1895.
