Who they were
Brother Albert, born Adam Hilary Bernard Chmielowski at Igołomia near Kraków on 20 August 1845, the eldest of four children of a noble family, was a celebrated painter before he gave his life to the poor.
He founded the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order of St Francis Servants of the Poor, to be wholly at the disposal of those in need, and left all who knew him a wonderful witness of faith and charity.

An artist who laid down his brush to share the life of Kraków's homeless, seeing Christ in the poorest.
