Priest of the Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Amadeo Monge Altés was born at Batea, in the province of Tarragona and the diocese of Tortosa, on 10 April 1906, was ordained priest on 22 June 1930 and joined the Brotherhood that August. He was prefect of the seminarians at Burgos and Barcelona, and he was shot at Gandesa, near Tarragona, on 16 August 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Joaquín Jovaní Marín and fourteen companions of the Brotherhood of Diocesan Worker Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
