Who they were
Antonio Carmaníu y Mercader was a priest of the Congregation of the Mission, born at Rialp near Lleida on 17 April 1860 and ordained in 1885. He was killed at Llavorsí in 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Fortunato Velasco Tobar and thirteen companions of the Congregation of the Mission.
