Who they were
Fortunato Velasco Tobar was a priest of the Congregation of the Mission, ordained on 11 October 1931 and sent to teach in the community at Alcorisa, near Teruel, where the decree says he was liked and trusted by the whole town. He was seized on the night of 28 July 1936, released when the townspeople stopped his captors, seized again on 22 August and shot two nights later, his last words asking pardon for his killers. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Fortunato Velasco Tobar and thirteen companions of the Congregation of the Mission.
