Antonio Maria Gianelli
Italian Roman Catholic bishop and saint (1789 – 1846)

Who they were
Antonio Maria Gianelli was born at Cereta near Chiavari on 12 April 1789, entered the seminary at nineteen and was ordained four years later. He taught letters and rhetoric in Genoa.
As Bishop of Bobbio he brought pastoral innovations and new institutions, including a seminary, and founded the Daughters of Mary Most Holy of the Garden and a small missionary congregation for preaching and for the clergy. He died on 7 June 1846.
The miracles
He was canonised by Pius XII. The biography does not describe the miracles approved in his cause.

A bishop devoted to the poor, the salvation of souls and the holiness of his priests.
