Bartolomea Capitanio

Who they were
Bartolomea Capitanio was born at Lovere, near Bergamo, on 13 January 1807. Qualified as an assistant teacher at the Poor Clares' school in 1822, she taught there and then in a little school for poor girls in her own home.
With St Vincenza Gerosa she founded at Lovere the Sisters of Charity, known as the Sisters of Maria Bambina. She died at twenty-seven, consumed by tuberculosis but still more by charity.
