Who they were

Anne de Lobera was born at Medina del Campo on 25 November 1545 and was a deaf-mute until her seventh year. She took the habit in St Teresa's convent at Avila in 1570, was made novice mistress while still a novice, and became St Teresa's close companion, first prioress of Beas and foundress at Granada and, with St John of the Cross, at Madrid. She collected St Teresa's writings for publication.

In 1604 she led the Carmelite nuns to Paris and later founded houses at Brussels, Louvain and Mons, and helped found those at Antwerp and Krakow. She died prioress of Brussels on 4 March 1621.

The miracles

Numerous miracles followed her death and her cause was introduced early in the seventeenth century. The Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.
