Bolesława Lament

Who they were
Bolesława Lament was born at Łowicz in Poland on 3 July 1862, the eldest of eight children; as a child she saw three of her siblings die. She opened a tailoring workshop with her sister and was soon put in charge of a shelter for the homeless.
Amid political upheaval she founded the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Family, to promote Christian unity, help the destitute and form girls in the Christian life. She died at Białystok on 29 January 1946, aged 84.
