Callisto Caravario
Italian Roman Catholic missionary and saint (1903–1930)

Who they were
Callisto Caravario, a Salesian priest, was martyred in 1930 with his bishop, Luigi Versiglia, on the banks of the Beijiang river near Shaoguan in Guangdong, China, for giving Christian care to the souls entrusted to them.
Their deaths were seen as fulfilling St John Bosco's dream of a chalice filled with blood, after which, he said, the Salesian work would spread wonderfully among the Chinese people.

As martyrs they were beatified without a miracle.
