Callixtus II

Who they were

Guido, son of Count William of Burgundy, became Archbishop of Vienne in 1088 and papal legate in France, where he led the resistance to lay investiture.

Elected pope on 1 February 1119, he brought the long Investiture controversy to an end. He died on 13 December 1124.
