Who they were
The decree on martyrdom describes him as a priest of the diocese of Autun, born on 2 February 1747 and dead on 13 September; the Roman Martyrology says that during the persecution he was thrown in chains into a foul cargo ship at anchor off Rochefort, where he died for Christ worn out by fever. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
