Priest of the Sons of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Fermín Martorell Vies was born at Margalef, near Tarragona, on 3 November 1879, made his religious profession in 1900 and was ordained priest in 1905. He declared himself a priest and was put to death on 25 August 1936, one of four of this group killed that day at Vila-rodona. Pope Francis beatified him on 13 October 2013, among the martyrs of Iacobus Puig Mirosa and nineteen companions of the Congregation of the Sons of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
