Carmelite priest, superior of the Olot community, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Fernando María Lloverá Puigsech was born in the town of Orfans in the diocese of Girona on 19 March 1902, made his solemn profession in 1923 and was ordained priest in 1924, after which he was sent to Puerto Rico; back in Spain he was made superior of the community at Olot.
He was killed at Barcelona on 22 November 1936, having first forgiven his persecutors and promised to pray for them. He was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI, among Ángel María Prat Hostench and his sixteen companions of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, killed in 1936.
