Who they were

The decree on martyrdom describes him as a canon of the chapter of Saint-Germain de Masseré in the diocese of Limoges, born on 3 September 1746 and dead on 7 September; the Roman Martyrology remembers him with Claude-Barnabé de Laurent de Mascloux, arrested during the French Revolution for their priesthood, put aboard a prison ship off Rochefort and dying there gravely ill from hunger. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
