Canon of Brienon in the archdiocese of Sens, martyr
Who they were
The decree on martyrdom describes him as a canon of the collegiate chapter of the town of Brienon in the archdiocese of Sens, born on 12 February 1753 and dead on 6 October; the Roman Martyrology says that in the persecution of the Church he was shut up in a foul prison ship off Rochefort because of his priesthood, and there gave up his spirit to God, stricken with fever. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
