Who they were
The decree on martyrdom describes him as vicar general of the diocese of Soissons, born on 4 May 1739 and dead on 11 September; the Roman Martyrology says he was arrested during the French Revolution for his priesthood, held in a ship at anchor off Rochefort and died at last worn away by gangrene. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
