Canon regular of Saint Augustine, martyr
Who they were
The decree on martyrdom describes him as a priest of the Order of Canons Regular of Saint Augustine, born on 29 October 1752 and dead on 21 July; the Roman Martyrology says that as a canon regular of Beaulieu in the territory of Saint-Brieuc he was dragged out of the abbey during the French Revolution because of his priesthood and, thrown into prison aboard a ship off Rochefort, won the crown of martyrdom struck down by disease. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
