Who they were
Gaudencio Íñiguez de Heredia Alzóla, in the world Benedictus, was the brother of Mauricio Íñiguez de Heredia Alzóla and one of the community based at Ciempozuelos; he was born on 16 April 1882 at Dallo in Alava, Spain, and gave himself to God by perpetual vows in the Hospitaller Order of St John of God on 12 March 1905. He was arrested at Madrid and killed on 1 August 1936 at Valdemoro, not far from the city, and he was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis.
