Who they were
George Swallowell was a convert who had been a minister. He was tried together with the priests John Boste and John Ingram, and the three were put to death on 24, 25 and 26 July 1594, under Elizabeth I, he himself at Darlington.
In 1913 the Catholic Encyclopedia counted him among the English martyrs whose cause had been admitted at Rome, who were then styled Venerable.
