Who they were

Giovanni Maria Boccardo was born at Moncalieri near Turin on 20 November 1848, the eldest of ten children, and ordained in 1871. He gave himself to preaching and catechism.

Among many labours for the elderly, the sick and the Christian education of the young, he founded the Poor Daughters of St Cajetan. He told his people: 'I come to you as the servant of all… seeking nothing but to do good to everyone.'

The miracles

The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A parish priest who made himself the servant of all, the old, the sick and the young.
