Who they were
Haymo entered the Benedictine abbey of Fulda as a youth, studied with his friend Rabanus Maurus under Alcuin at Tours, and spent most of his life at Fulda, where he was chancellor of the monastery.
After a short time at Hersfeld, he was named Bishop of Halberstadt at the end of 840. He died on 26 March 853.

The Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe how he came to be honoured as a saint.
