Who they were
Hermas was the author of The Shepherd, a work of great authority in the early Church, read publicly in churches and valued by the Fathers. Origen held him to be the Hermas greeted by St Paul (Romans 16:14).
The miracles
The Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe how he came to be honoured as a saint.
Why that counted as sanctity
The author of an early Christian call to repentance.
