Who they were
The decree on martyrdom describes him as parish priest of Saint-Hilaire in the diocese of Limoges, born on 1 December 1737 and dead on 22 July; the Roman Martyrology says that in the great persecution of the Church he was handed over to an inhuman imprisonment aboard a prison ship at Rochefort because of his priesthood, and died there of an incurable disease. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
