Jean-Georges Rehm

Who they were

A priest of the Order of Preachers, born on 21 April 1752. Handed over to a squalid imprisonment off Rochefort, he urged his fellow prisoners to hope until he himself died of an incurable illness on 11 August 1794. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and sixty-three companions who died on the prison ships off Rochefort.
