Who they were
The decree on martyrdom describes him as a canon and the parish priest of the town of Brienon, born on 21 September 1742 and dead on 7 October; the Roman Martyrology says that during the French Revolution he was thrown into a prison ship off Rochefort because of his priesthood, and ended the course of his imprisonment in full faithfulness to God. He was beatified on 1 October 1995 by John Paul II, among Jean-Baptiste Souzy and his sixty-three companions whose martyrdom in 1794-1795 the decree declared.
