John Lockwood

Who they were

John Lockwood, eldest son of a Yorkshire family, studied at Douai and Rome and was ordained in 1597. Imprisoned and banished in 1610, he returned, was condemned to death and reprieved.

At the age of about eighty-seven he was captured again and executed at York on 13 April 1642 with Edmund Catherick.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
