Franciscan priest, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Born at Durango in the diocese of Vitoria on 18 August 1870, he made his religious profession in 1888 and was ordained priest in May 1896; he was novice master in the Holy Land and then a counsellor of the Franciscan commissariat province in Spain, and in the first days of July 1936 he was moved to the friary at Fuenteovejuna. He was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI with Félix Echevarría Gorostiaga and six companions of the Order of Friars Minor.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The decree on martyrdom names him among the seven Friars Minor of Fuenteovejuna killed in 1936 for their fidelity to Christ and the Church.
